Safe Respectful Workplaces: Preventing Sexual Harassment Together

Sexual harassment affects 1 in 3 workers in Aotearoa New Zealand. Despite its prevalence, it remains significantly underreported and misunderstood, shaped by power imbalances and social norms that can make it difficult for people to be heard, believed, and supported. Often, by the time a problem is identified, the trust between kaimahi, customers, clients, and stakeholders is already broken.

The good news is that sexual harassment is preventable. Proactive steps and practical actions can add up to create workplaces where sexual harassment is less likely to happen in the first place.

Gender at Work is proud to launch its new resource ‘Safe & Respectful Workplaces: Preventing Sexual Harassment Together’. This practical toolkit is designed to educate and enable leadership, health and safety, HR, and DEI teams to create workplace cultures that minimise risk and promote respect.

At our launch event, hear from sexual harm prevention specialists Rachel Harrison & Mel Calvesbert from Prevention Aotearoa, who will lead an interactive session focused on what this looks like in real workplaces.

This will be followed by a panel discussion with:

  • Holly Simpson, SkyCity Entertainment Group Employee Support Advisor

Our speakers will share their experiences of cultivating low risk workplaces, and you will be supported to identify context-specific actions you can take back to your organisation - because effective prevention isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Bring your teams, colleagues, and friends and share this event with your networks - everyone has the right to feel safe at work, and together we can make the change.

RSVP by Friday 22 May.
